Mission Statement

Debbie Davis owns and operates Sport Equine Training Center and is a founding board member of New Hope Equine a non-profit 501(C)3 Corporation and has been actively involved in rescue work and helping unwanted horses and their owners for almost 2 decades in central CA. With a true heart for unwanted/unused horses, Debbie reaches out to assist owners in need and receives horses of all kinds across the country that meet her soundness criteria for varying levels of training and use. She believes most horses are happiest and healthiest serving a purpose in accordance to suitability. Debbie provides diversified training for all disciplines for up to 12 horses a day, 6 days a week. She sees profound results in her program within 1-3 months. During that time period most horses are successfully re-homed with carefully matched new owner/riders. (Please see TESTIMONIALS) Many horses with competitive potential receive specialized training and show experience to launch their careers in the horse show world. Debbie has earned her USDF Bronze medal and has competed to FEI levels in both eventing and dressage. She has achieved national Eventing champion status in both amateur and overall categories. Her mission is to educate people against over breeding and to focus on training and developing the unwanted, unused and forgotten horses allowing them to bridge the gaps and meet existing needs.

Training Philosophy

All of the horses available at Sport Equine are in full professional combined (cross) training that focuses on classical dressage as the foundation and way of life. Debbie strongly believes that every horse regardless of breed, type or riding discipline can benefit dramatically from this form of gymnasticisng and strength training that produces a beautiful, supple and obedient partner for any task. In this diversified program horses are not sour or bored with their work because of the well rounded cross training approach. All horses receive the benefit of training in beautiful wide open spaces that are free of arena fencing or monotony. They aren't sheltered from distractions and things that startle them. They are carefully desensitized and exposed to stimuli to make them brave, mentally focused and non reactive. This exposure is a huge advantage for show, performance and trail horses that owners intend to take out of the arena or backyard. Please be aware that the horses are often placed before they reach website ads or even the sales page so it's best to inquire regularly when you are actively looking. Most horses sell within a couple weeks of ads posting so keep that in mind when browsing our sales page to avoid disappointment.
